Your Wedding Photographer: Tips to help you make your choice

Wedding photos capture all the happy memories of your special day. And it is therefore important that you hire a professional wedding photographer to capture those special moments.

Selecting Your Wedding Photographer - Little Wedding Diary

So how should you choose your wedding photographer? Here’s how:

1. Experience. How many years experience does the photographer have? How many weddings has he or she photographed?

2. Personality. Can you communicate with the photographer easily? Does he or she understand what you want?

3. Style of photography. Ask to view his or her portfolio. Do you like the style of photography? If not, is he or she able to replicate what you are after?

4. References. Enquire with your family and friends and check if they have personally used the photographer. Or do they know anyone who has used him or her. Were they happy with the photographer’s works and service?

5. Price & Packages. Find out what packages are available. If none suits your needs, can the photographer tailor-make one for you? Ask about the price. Can you afford his or her services? Is the wedding photographer worth the price difference as compared to others you’ve met? Make sure you also understand all services and what photos are included in the price.

6. Time to complete album. How long will it take the photographer to finish your album, your bridal portrait and all the photos taken during the wedding?

7. Payments & Deposits. If you cancel, can the photographer give a refund? If he or she does not show up, what happens? Does he or she have a partner to take his / her place just in case? Make sure all your concerns are addressed.

8. Signing Contract. Check and read it carefully before signing. If there is anything that you don’t understand, ask the photographer. Be certain that you read and understand what the contract entails.

These may not be the only criteria you would look out for, but it should form a good basis for your wedding photographer shopping!
