Choosing a Wedding Solemnizer for Your Wedding

Hunting for a wedding solemnizer is one of the first things you need to do if you decide to have your wedding outside of the ROM. The ROM website has a  list of approved wedding solemnizers for you to select from.

All you need to do is to select one from the approved list and give him or her a call 3-4 months prior to your wedding date. Fill him / her in on your wedding details like the venue, date, time and the wedding rundown for the day.

How do you choose which wedding solemnizer to use?

  1.  Someone whom your family or friend has used before
If you have attended a wedding and particularly liked a certain wedding solemnizer, ask for his or her contact. Another good way is to ask your family and friends for referrals directly.
  2. Based on location
If you are having your solemnization in a location at west, you most probably would not want to select one from the east. The solemnizer is not an employee of the ROM and is taking his / her personal time to officiate your wedding. Where possible, make it convenient for him / her.
  3. Your faith and religion
If you have a certain religion, you would definitely want to select the corresponding religious leader.

Once you have selected your wedding solemnizer, you will then need to meet up with him / her to obtain the signature for the Solemnizer Consent Form. Remember to also note down his / her buddy solemnizer just in case. When all these are done, you can then proceed to file for a Notice of Marriage, or refresh yourself on how to file for a Notice of Marriage.

Now that that is out of the way, you can proceed to make the other arrangements. Just remember to thank him for his efforts buy inviting him to your reception and reimbursing him for his transport. A guideline of $28 – 48 is recommended.
