Every woman has dreamt of wearing a wedding gown since she was a little girl and inevitably, one of the most important decisions a woman will make before she gets married is to select her perfect wedding dress.

Before you select your perfect wedding gown, it is good to keep in mind some suggestions when doing your gown shopping:

Your budget
It is important to work out a budget for your wedding gown right at the start so it will be clear to you what options are available.

If you have a large budget, you could possibly have the luxury of selecting a designer wedding gown.

If you have a smaller budget, there is also no need to fret. Many shops and designers also offer off-the-rack gowns with lovely designs, which you can select and have it altered to fit you.

Start flipping bridal magazines
Look through bridal magazines, and have an idea of the styles available, and shortlist those you really like. Make a copy, tear them out and bring them a long when you go gown shopping. Whether you decide to custom make your wedding gown of pick it off the rack, these will be very helpful in conveying your message to the gown designer.

Consider your body shape
You may like a certain design, but keep in mind that certain styles suit certain body types better. Speak to the gown designer and gather their inputs. Try on more gowns to have an idea of the cutting that will fit your body type.

Make sure it is comfortable
You will be wearing your gown for a good part of the day, so make sure you fits well and feel comfortable in it. It is no point trying to wear a gown that is too tight just because it looks good and then spend the rest of the day feeling uncomfortable or worrying if the dress will split!

Walk a few more shops
Try not to jump and decide on the first shop you visit. You may eventually decide to purchase from that shop, but there is always no harm browsing a few more to have a good feel on what works best for you.

Always start early, your gown selection can take longer than you imagine and you would not want to be stressed over not finding the gown you truly like.
