With some of the tips below, we hope we can make your wedding date selection process a little easier.
 1. The Year

How soon do you intend to hold your wedding after the engagement? 6 months?1 year? Or perhaps 2 years? It all really depends on how elaborate you would like your wedding to be and how much time you think would be needed in the planning process.

 2. The Month or The Season
Would you prefer the early part of the year where the weather is cooler? Perhaps you prefer the hot season for a beach wedding? If you are having your wedding overseas, maybe a fall wedding for its lovely colours? If you are living in the tropics, it probably wouldn’t make too much of a difference. Unless you are planning a outdoor wedding, then you may wish to coincide it with a period of less rain.

3. The Day
Are you considering a Saturday where prices could be steeper? Or are you happy with a Sunday wedding? If you are looking to select an auspicious date, you may very well end up with a weekday. Is that acceptable for you? You may also wish to avoid long weekends as many guests could be potentially out-of-town.

4. The Time
If you prefer a more casual setting, a lunch reception could just be perfect for you. While if you prefer a grand wedding or maybe a wedding with some partying into the night, then an evening reception would be a better option.

5. Destination Weddings
Are you intending for a destination wedding or do you guests need to travel to attend your wedding? If so, take into consideration if your family and friends have school going children who may not be able to travel during the school term

6. Budget
Certain times of the year are high seasons while some months could be a lull period. Holding you wedding during the lull months can most certainly help you trim your wedding budget

7. Flowers and decorations
Remember certain flowers could be seasonal. If there is a type of flower that you drop dead must have in the wedding, you may end up having to plan your wedding around it.

Choosing your wedding date may take longer than you expect. Find a day to sit down and have a discussion with all the parties involved (including your parents) before shortlisting the dates. The last thing that you would like to see happen is to finally decide on a wedding date and only to have the parents veto it.
